Curtain walls for towers, airports and hotels
The glass and aluminium skin of a building. We design it, make it and install it.
A curtain wall carries no floor load. It carries the wind, the heat and the rain.
A curtain wall is the glass and aluminium skin of a building. It carries no floor load. It carries the wind, the heat and the rain. We design, make and install curtain walls in the UAE and Oman. We did this work on the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, the Emirates Call Center and the aircraft hangars at Salalah and Muscat airports.

Each one is designed, made and installed by Simplex Loft.
Stick curtain wall, 4-way capped
The mullions and transoms go up first, one by one. Pressure plates and cover caps hold the glass on all four sides. This is the simplest and strongest system. It is a good choice for large glass panes and high wind loads.
Stick curtain wall, 2-way structural glazing
Caps on two sides only. On the other two sides, structural silicone holds the glass. From outside you see only horizontal lines, or only vertical lines.
Stick curtain wall, 4-way structural glazing
No caps at all. Structural silicone holds the glass on all four sides. The outside is one flat glass surface. This gives the cleanest look.
Spider glazing with glass fins
Stainless steel spiders hold the glass at its corners. Glass fins carry the wind load, so there are no aluminium mullions. The wall is almost all glass. We did this at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai. It is the best choice for lobbies and entrances.
Unitized curtain wall
We make complete panels in our workshop, with the glass already in. On site, a crane lifts each panel into place, floor by floor. This is fast on site, and the quality is high because the work is done indoors. It is the usual choice for tall buildings.

Six parts make one curtain wall joint.
This is a horizontal section through one mullion of a capped stick system. Look how the parts come together.
Cover cap
The aluminium cap that you see from outside. It gives the façade its line and its finish.
Pressure plate
It clamps the glass to the frame. Screws fix it to the mullion.
Gaskets
Gaskets seal the glass on the two sides. They keep water and air out.
Glazed unit
The double glazed vision glass or the spandrel panel.
Mullion
The vertical aluminium profile. It carries the wind load to the brackets.
Anchor bracket
It fixes the mullion to the floor slab. It permits small movements of the building.

This is the cargo facility at Muscat International Airport. Simplex Loft made the curtain walls.
What clients ask us.
Your question is not here? Call us on +971 433 733 29.
Which system is right for my building?
It depends on the height, the wind load, the look you want and the budget. Send us the drawings. We propose a system and give you a price.
How do you handle the heat?
We use double glazed units with a low-e coating and aluminium profiles with a thermal break. This keeps the heat out and the cooling cost down.
Do you do the engineering?
Yes. We make the shop drawings and the structural and thermal calculations, and we get the approvals from the consultant and the authorities.
